LHD Tigerstripe

First issued in the early 1960s for US military advisors in South East Asia, multiple variants of "Tigerstripe" camouflage were issued to US personnel throughout the Vietnam War. Many variations were produced and have been reproduced over the years, but the "Late-War Heavyweight, Dense" (LHD) is one that has largely been forgotten. Engineered for the final, challenging years of the conflict, the LHD variant of Tigerstripe featured distinctly muted, ominous four-color palette of dark green, rich brown, dull pea green, and a mere whisper of tan. Original produced via silkscreens and vat-dyes onto a heavier fabric, this specific configuration was built to endure the harshest jungle environments. Wartime examples exhibiting a notorious range of mild color shifts—some fading to an aggressive, brighter green, others developing a rare, sought-after purple-ish patina.
