The current senior and only Scottish line unit of the regular British Army, the Royal Regiment of Scotland is a modern amalgamation of many legendary Scottish regiments from the northern most highlands to the English border.

Among them include:

Royal Scots Borderers (now the 1st Battalion)
Royal Scots Fusiliers (now the 2nd Battalion)
The Black Watch (now the 3rd Battalion)
Seaforth Highlanders (now the 4th Battalion)
Gordon Highlanders (now the 4th Battalion)
Cameron Highlanders (now the 4th Battalion)
Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (now the 5th Battalion)

The many traditions and history of these respective units (now all battalions of today's Royal Regiment of Scotland) date back to the 19th century and are perpetuated by this modern unit.
