The distinctive shoulder sleeve insignia of the Vietnam War era United States Military Assistance Command - Vietnam, as worn by personnel to the unit throughout the Vietnam War while headquartered in Saigon, and later Tan Son Nhut Air Base

The vibrant colors of red and yellow of South Vietnam adorn this patch. Superimposed is a representation of the Great Wall of China, its opening serving as a conduit for aid destined for the North Vietnamese Army. Through this breach, an upright sword thrusts defiantly, a potent symbol of offensive action aimed at thwarting the relentless advance of North Vietnam's aggressive communist forces, echoing a broader struggle against the specter of the "Reds".
