Country of Origin:
First adopted in 1994 after a few years of experimental four-colour patterns of Pakistani origin, the Hungarian M90 pattern draws significant inspiration from earlier M49/82 patterns that have design features dating back to the late 1940s. The uniquely "fuzzy" four-colour splotches are very familiar in shape to the M49/82 pattern, with the darker hue of the contemporary US, French and British woodland patterns adopted in the mid to late 1990s. The pattern remained in common usage by members of the Hungarian Defense Force until 2016, when an indigenous multicam variant ("HunCam") started to supersede it.
These field shirts feature the a Hungarian tri-colour insignia patch at the left shoulder, without the detested communist star as a reflection of Hungary's freedom from Soviet satelitte status. The shirts also feature a nametape with a bold golden font indicating "HUNGARY" as their origin. In terms of the construction of the shirt, the simple two button pocketed ripstop design is only augmented by an addition button at the left hand sleeve for the attachment of armbands or other insignia.
Not bad for a early 90s woodland pattern, and relative cheap for a snazzy ripstop shirt!
