"Amigo, amigo, amigo! Don't shoot damn it!"
Eastern bloc forces, particularly Fidel Castro's Cuba, provided vast quantities of material support to the various armed African nationalist groups during the Cold War. The degree of support was amplified, particularly during the latter half of the Rhodesian Bush War, and South African Border War. Rhodesian and South African forces quickly began to adopt the various uniform components of their communist adversaries for "pseudo-ops" behind enemy lines. By utilizing captured adversary force uniforms, or purpose-built clones, legendary units such as the Selous Scouts, Rhodesian Special Air Service, BSAP Special Branch, and the South African Recces wreaked a great deal of havoc on their foes. The sight of a communist-garbed operator with a blackened face would be the absolute bane of African communist guerillas.
Basing off original Rhodesian war trophies, captured from various FRELIMO, ZANLA, and ZIPRA personnel, we have reproduced an excellent representation of a standard "field shirt", which could well have been of Cuban origin, or a homemade clone. Perfectly comfortable in temperate and tropical environments, it can be worn casually, or for the hardcore reenactor looking to do a proper portrayal of a variety of different Cold War era belligerents.
