"I've done my three in B.S.A.P, and that's enough for the likes of me... KUM A KYE-EY-EY-EY-EY KUM A KYE, KUM A ROOKI KUM A KYE!"
The distinctive British South Africa Police "Lion" was first seen triumphantly mounting a Ndebele knobkerrie and shield when the British Army issued the British South Africa Medal for service in Matabeleland from 1890-1897. The BSAP be formed to police the territories the British South Africa Company in 1889, adopting the lion insignia of the British South Africa Medal. They would police the wild frontier that would be shaped into the Republic of Rhodesia. During the trying years of the Rhodesian Bush War from 1965 to 1979, BSAP troopers including both black African constables and white patrol officers served with exceptional courage and grit against the communist insurgency lead by Robert Mugabe and Joshua Nkomo. For this, they paid a heavy toll that must never be forgotten.
