The Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment (Queen's and Royal Hampshires - "The Tigers") is the senior English line infantry regiment of the British Army, second only to the Royal Regiment of Scotland in the Queen's Division. It was formed with the amalgamation of the Queen's Regiment and Royal Hampshire Regiment in 1992, and named in honour of Diana, Princess of Wales.
The No. 1 peak cap is worn with the No. 1 uniform or "dress blues", the ceremonial uniform of a respective British Army unit and the most formal short of the traditional scarlet, dark blue or rifle green "Full dress".
This "No. 1" peak cap features the cap badge of "The Tigers", to include the latin phrase "Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense" ("Shame on him who thinks ill of it"), in addition to the symbols of the Order of the Garter, the feathers of the Black Prince won at the Battle of Crecy in 1346, the Elizabethan Dragon of Queen Anne, and the Hampshire Rose won by Henry V's Trained Bands of Hampshire at Agincourt. It's quite a bit of history packed into a little badge, in a regimental already steeped in military history which include the British Army's earliest battle honours.
