Description
Faithful reproduction early pattern Khaki Drill trousers, as issued during the Second World War to members of British and Commonwealth Forces during early war campaigns in the Far East and North Africa, and the arduous slog up the Italian peninsula.
These trousers were first issued in the early 1940s to replace older khaki-drill cotton uniforms for British and Commonwealth troops stationed in tropical locales. The most distinctive changes as seen from between 1941-42 were the removal of complex pleats for a more utilitarian and ultimately economy cut. Most evident were the inclusion of a Pattern 37 style field dressing pocket and suspender buttons, the latter of which seem to have been seldom utilized as per photographic evidenced.
The nomenclature for these trousers was anything but standardized given the large number of wartime manufacturers. However, we have designated this reproduction as a Pattern 1941 (P-41), as we have based off original examples with the assistance of some advanced British militaria collectors.
