Country of Origin:
First adopted in 1984, the Australian Disruptive Pattern, Combat Uniform (DPCU) camouflage system was one of Australia's first home grown camo patterns. It served as a huge step up from the the simplistic two colour "psychological pattern" issued as waterproofed kit to Australian "Diggers" in the Vietnam War. Feature a khaki backing with distinctively "bunny" shaped blobs in orange, brown, dark olive drab, and bright green , it became an ironically Australian pattern. It was widely used by Australian troops through campaigns in East Timor, Iraq, and Afghanistan, before being superseded by the current issue Australian indigenous Multicam variant in 2014.
A slightly streamlined modern version the big brimmed slouch hats of ANZAC fame, this is the preferred bush hat of today's Diggers. Featuring this streamlined cotton construction with foliage loops, it makes for a lightweight all-purpose outdoor hat with air vent grommets for airflow and an adjustable chinstrap.
