Bože, Carja hrani! - God Save The Tsar!"
The Imperial standard of the former Russian Empire as flown during the reign of Alexander III and Nicholas II. It was last officially flown over Moscow when the Romanov dynasty was overthrown by the Bolshevik revolution of 1917. It has design elements dating bac k to the reign of Tsar Peter I dating back to 1721, with additional seals representing Russian subjects at the time of Nicholas II's reign in 1917. These seals are superimposed on a black eagle, representing the Tsar himself. The flag was prominently featured during the First World War as the official flag of the Russian Empire.
A great piece for any history buff, and a reminder of how lame hammer and sickles are as a symbol.
